Project Description
Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service is looking for new people to join our Board of Trustees
Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service is a vibrant, highly respected, innovative and multi award winning charity. We provide services to people in acute mental health crisis, which are alternatives to hospital admission or statutory services.
The Board of Trustees play a crucial role in leading and steering the organisation and upholding its vision and philosophy.
The role of Trustee at LSLCS involves meeting, usually on a Monday evening on a quarterly basis. There is also opportunity to sit on a sub-committee of the board. There is occasional involvement in operational tasks such as staff recruitment, focus groups with visitors, callers and guests and staff development sessions etc. There is also a trustee away day once a year usually on a Saturday. We also encourage trustees to shadow shifts, join team meetings, reflective practice sessions across our portfolio of services as a way to meet our staff from across the organisation.
What are we looking for?
We are currently looking to recruit into the role of Treasurer. The role of Treasurer at LSLCS has a slightly bigger commitment than indicated above. The role also includes meeting regularly with the finance team at LSLCS, chairing the finance sub-committee, liaising with the auditors and supporting the finance team to prepare and present the organisations financial documents.
We are also looking to recruit someone with relevant experience to take on the role as the Safeguarding Trustee for the organisation. The role holder will be required to attend a quarterly safeguarding manager meeting (usually on a Tuesday morning) and support with the writing of the safeguarding report and update for the board meeting. There will also be a requirement for this role holder to be involved in any significant safeguarding incidents that may occur across the organisation.
Due to our “Survivor Led” ethos, we are especially looking for people who have or have had direct experience of emotional distress. We are also particularly keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees and we welcome applications from all sections of the community. All new trustees are subject to a DBS check.
